Success Research Completed

April 2009

Patrick has recently completed a comprehensive study looking at the principles of success. The study included the most comprehensive review of the self-help literature ever undertaken, the results of which were cross-referenced with the academic psychology literature and a series of case studies.

During his career, Patrick has worked with some of the world’s most successful people as well as others, such as prisoners and people living in poverty, for who life hasn’t worked out as they hoped.

He said, “There is a vast self-help literature out there and, while it contains some great advice, the sheer volume and apparent variety of it can be confusing. The aim of this study was to establish the core principles that will enable people to take control and have lives full of achievement, happiness and fulfilment.”

Information about the study and its outcomes can be found here.

'The Principles of Success' Published

April 2009

A new book, The Principles of Success has been published summarising the outcomes of the study. It outlines the five principles that we need to put into action in order to live successful lives as well as examples of how to apply them and some exercises to get the reader started.

Patrick said, “The book is a concise guide to success. The intention is that reading this book should give people all they need to know in order to be successful. Provided that the reader remembers the five principles and applies them they will soon find that they start to transform their lives.”

Inclusive Design Seminar Confirmed

April 2009

It has been confirmed that Patrick will give a seminar at the University of Cambridge on 29th April. The seminar will look at the topic of inclusive design, looking at both practical and emotional qualities of products.

Patrick said, “Inclusive design is about designing products that can be used both by people with disabilities and by non-disabled people. Instead of having ‘special’ products for people with disabilities inclusive design is about making mass-market products accessible for all. That, of course, means that they have to be not only usable put also emotionally engaging.”

Patrick is a pioneer in the field of inclusive design and is the founder of Include, Europe’s premiere inclusive design conference.
