Nordic Keynote

September 2007

Patrick will be Keynote Speaker at this year’s Nordic Ergonomics Society conference which will be held in the Swedish town of Lysekil from 1st to 3rd October 2007. The conference brings together delegates from all Nordic nations.

 

Patrick will be speaking on the subject of the Dream Economy and the importance of a deep understanding of consumers to success in the current and future marketplace.

China Conference

September 2007

The Dream Economy will also be the subject of Patrick’s talk at the User Friendly 2007 conference which is being held in Beijing from 23rd to 25th November. Patrick is an invited speaker at this event which promotes excellence in international design and marketing. It is considered China’s most prestigious user-centred design conference.

 

Patrick will also be running a half-day workshop at the event on the subject of the Four Pleasures. More information about the Four Pleasures is given on the talks page.

Dream Economy Translation

September 2007

An edited version of Patrick’s article The Dream Economy has been published online by UI Garden, a design and marketing site aimed at both Western and Chinese businesses. A Chinese translation of the article can also be found on the site.

Academic Appointments

September 2007

It has been confirmed that this semester Patrick will be a Visiting Lecturer at both Brunel University and University College London, where he will lecture and instruct on topics including design, marketing and branding.

 

Patrick has also been appointed as a PhD examiner at Goldsmiths, University of London where he will examine a thesis about the global food production and retail industry.

Project Progress

September 2007

Patrick is currently consulting on a European-funded driving project run in conjunction with Chalmers University and Volvo.

 

The project is progressing successfully. Over the summer a number of cross-cultural studies were carried out in both Sweden and China looking at driving attitudes and behaviours and at the use of in-car technology. Patrick is involved in planning and designing more studies which will be run in Sweden, the UK and China during the remainder of the year.
